Sources and methodology
Where the facts come from
I use primary sources first. The main ones:
- Decree 366/2025 (Articles 37 to 45, amending Citizenship Law No. 346) and Decree 524/2025 on the procedure, both on Argentina.gob.ar.
- The Ministry of Economy announcement of 2 October 2026 with the amounts and the checks.
- The Public Defender's Office summary of the National Electoral Chamber ruling on Decree 366/2025.
- Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 for Schengen entry and Article 22 of the Spanish Civil Code.
- Reference summaries: Argentine nationality law and Argentine passport on Wikipedia.
- Practice notes and data published by BRIDGES: the Argentina programme page, the Passport Index and the entry requirements page.
How I check and date information
- Each article shows an "Updated" date. It changes only when the facts are reviewed.
- I separate what the decrees say from what has only been announced, and where sources differ, I show both.
Facts I could not confirm in official sources
- the amounts of USD 350,000, USD 800,000, USD 100,000 and USD 25,000 come from the government announcement; I did not find a Ministry of Economy resolution fixing them by 30 October 2026;
- the seven-year holding period of the security, the exclusion of parents and the consent rule for children from previous marriages come from BRIDGES;
- the opening date of applications: only "the fourth quarter of 2026" has been announced;
- government and due diligence fees have not been published;
- Decree 285/2026 on the appointment of the Agency's Executive Director, the admission of the appeal on 24 September 2026 and the bills 5254-D-2026 and S-1441/26 are reported by BRIDGES; I could not open the official records;
- how new citizens obtain the DNI and passport has not been regulated;
- the reading of Article 22 of the Spanish Civil Code for naturalised Argentines is the interpretation of BRIDGES;
- the visa-free count: 168 in the BRIDGES Passport Index of 4 October 2026; other indexes give different numbers.
How often the guides are updated
All articles are reviewed at least once a quarter, and immediately after the publication of the programme regulations or a court decision on Decree 366/2025.
